DANCES WITH WORDS AND MUSIC

This project, a 30-minute animation, served as the set/background for Words With Music & Dance, a project for the dance company, Concert Dance Inc., the Artist In Residence for the Ruth Page Center for the Arts. The piece was funded by a grant from the Poetry Foundation and includes the work of four poets, all new choreography, animation, imagery, and live musical performance. This project took over seven months to complete and culminated with the premiere performance at the Ruth Page Festival of Dance at Ravinia’s Bennett Gordon Hall in June 2019. The video created will be used for subsequent performances of the piece. This powerful piece brings to life poetry from e.e cummings, Langston Hughes, Federico Garcia Lorca, and Dorothy Parker through the delicate interplay of dance, words, and music.
